the perfect response

Growing up I always hated when my parents would bump into people that they didn't see all that often as I dreaded the "Lauren, I cannot believe how old you have gotten" comment. I would always try to think of an appropriate response, but saying "Thank you" didnt really make sense and if I replied "I know" I would have been lectured for 30 minutes on being a polite young lady yadda yadda, so I always ended up just awkwardly smiling back.

When I saw the C family the first thing out of my mouth was "I cannot believe how much B&R have changed since last fall!" I turned to each of them and told them how much older they looked, and R who doesn't miss a beat reassured me that I looked so much older too. At age 4 she had come up with the perfect response to the comment I always hated. There is never a dull moment with B&R which is why I look forward to seeing them each fall.
